Kaylan Groen from Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine serves as the athletic trainer for all JM student athletes.  It is important to understand the policies so that Kaylan can facilitate getting your child back on the playing field.

Training Room Hours: During the Spring season, Kaylan will arrive at 2:30pm.  If not at a home competition she will normally be on campus until about 6:00pm depending on practices.  Athletes are taken care of in this order: away games, home games, practice then new injuries.  If your child has an open 8th hour they are more than welcome to come to the training room after 7th hour ends.  Otherwise they must stay in class and wait until after school.

Reporting Injuries: It is important to make your coaches and in turn the athletic trainer aware of injuries as soon as possible.  This will enable your child to receive the best and quickest care.  If your child comes home with an injury don't hesitate to contact Kaylan.

Returning To Play After Injury: If an athlete seeks a physician's care for an athletic injury, they may not return to play until we have a written note from the physician releasing the athlete; this also includes athletes who have not stopped participating.  There is absolutely no exception to this rule.  Parents' notes and/or phone calls are not acceptable

Concussions: Should your athlete sustain a head injury, they should see the trainer as quickly as possible.  Those athletes who are evaluated, and determined to have a concussion will be referred to a physician for further evaluation.  Once they are cleared to play by the physician, they will go through a gradual return to play protocol with the athletic trainer.  Every athlete who sustains a concussion will go through the return to play protocol.
