Poor weather later this week resulted in an adjustment to the JM Rocket Softball schedule. The Rockets moved their Monday make-up game from Century High School to John Marshall with an early 4pm start. Then following that game, Mayo took the field against JM in a game originally scheduled for Thursday this week.

The result was a double-header for JM against their two city rivals, and a split,  as the Rockets knocked off Century 17-2 before falling to Mayo 11-15. It was a long day in circle for the Rocket's Abby Miles who threw all 11 innings and over 230 pitches.

Century at John Marshall

John Marshall banged out 14 hits and beat Century 17-2 in Big Nine Conference softball on Monday.

JM sent 14 batters to the plate in the bottom of the first inning and grabbed an immediate 11-0 lead. Grace Freed finished with two singles in the first inning and drove in three runs. Gina Pula singled and had a two-run homer in the first frame.

JM ended the game in the bottom of the fourth on the run rule.

"It was one of those games where we found some holes and took advantage of our scoring chances," JM coach Thang Nguyen said. "We made some nice adjustments after the early big inning and were able to stay aggressive."
