NORTHFIELD — Brynn Hostettler blazed again from the pitchers circle as she guided Northfield to an 8-2 win over John Marshall in Big Nine Conference softball Thursday.

The hard-throwing Hostettler fired a four-hitter. Northfield jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings and was never threatened. Hostettler set down the first 10 JM hitters, all by strikeouts.

"Hostettler was dominant in the circle, and we couldn't make the necessary adjustments," JM coach Thang Nguyen said. "She is certainly up there with the top pitchers we have seen."

Grace Freed had two hits for JM, including a triple.

JM is 6-4 in the conference, 13-5 overall. Northfield is 9-2, 15-3.
