The John Marshall softball team wrapped up the regular season in fine form on Friday, pounding Owatonna 10-2 on Senior night.

Abbey Miles got things started for the Rockets with a two-run double in the first inning, but Owatonna bounced right back in the top of the second with a two-run homer from Mikayla Dinse.

JM responded with a long ball of its own, as Olivia Evans put the Rockets ahead for good in the bottom of the third with a three-run shot.

That proved to be more than enough support for JM starting pitcher Abby Miles, who shut down the Huskies over the last five innings and got the complete-game victory, scattering seven hits while walking none and striking out 10.

"It was a good final regular season game for our five seniors. Now we refocus and get ready for postseason play," said JM head coach Thang Ngyuen.

The win moves JM into a tie for fourth in the Big Nine at 7-4 and improves their overall record to 14-5. The Rockets will likely a first-round Section 1AAAA game next Tuesday.
