(ABC 6 News) – The John Marshall Rockets picked up a win in their season opener on the softball diamond on Monday—and it was because the moment wasn’t too big for their young pitcher, Abby Miles.
“(Abby Miles is) a gamer, she’s a bulldog,” Rockets head coach Thang Nguyen said. “She’s always even keel. You never know when she’s upset or when she’s happy. She does whatever you ask her to do. She just goes above and beyond what you ask her to do.”
In the Rockets’ game on Monday against the Mankato East Cougars, Miles had a memorable night, claiming his first career varsity win.
“Just going out there and being able to beat (Mankato East), it was huge,” Miles said. “It was one of our big goals as a team this year. (Getting that first win) It was so exciting. I felt like I proved I could do this.” ....
