Tuesday was Senior Night for the John Marshall softball team, and the squad's seven seniors were all in the starting lineup as the Rockets claimed a 5-3 Big Nine Conference victory over Austin.

Senior pitcher Emma Bartholomew got the win, yielding just one first-inning run thru the first four. The Rockets responded immediately, scoring runs in the first, second and third innings. The second-inning run came on doubles by Lexy Andersen and Megan Karp, and in the third inning, it was Olivia Evans who doubled home Abby Gee to things started.

The Rockets played an error-free game and turned two double plays to keep Austin at bay. The tying run was on base with two outs in the seventh inning before relief pitcher Abby Miles got the final out on a fly ball to deep center. Miles tossed two innings of hitless relief to get the save.

JM improves to 12-4 overall, 7-3 Big Nine, while Austin falls to 9-8, 4-7 Big Nine. The Rockets play at Kasson-Mantorville today and finish the regular season hosting Winona in a doubleheader Thursday.
