Minnesota All-Stars (South)

Play Ball Minnesota All Star Series

In 1975, a group of Minnesota high school baseball created the Minnesota High School Baseball All Star Series for the purpose of recognizing the best graduating seniors from the state. The event was sponsored by the Minnesota Lions and through the partnership’s history, more than $500,000 was contributed to the Lions Eye Bank at the University of Minnesota.

In 2013, Play Ball! Minnesota became the new naming sponsor of this prestigious event. Through a coach led nomination process, 20 baseball players are chosen for one of four teams. The four teams that make up the round-robin tournament include the North, South, Metro East, and Metro West. Coaches are also selected from the different parts of the state. Many of Minnesota’s legendary players have participated in this event.

In 2016, Play Ball! Minnesota expanded the teams to six teams consisting of North Metro, South Metro, East Metro, West Metro, South, and North

The City of Chaska hosts the tournament at beautiful Athletic Park, and tournament festivities include an opening banquet, opening ceremonies, games and closing ceremonies. The series is always held the Thursday, Friday, and Saturday following the Minnesota State High School League State Tournament.
