OWATONNA — John Marshall worked its way to another win Tuesday, beating Owatonna 6-1 in Big Nine Conference softball
Winning pitcher Abby Miles was sharp and also got plenty of her help from her team's defense. Miles allowed seven hits.
JM had six hits. Gina Pula had two of them, including a triple. Sammy Guetter went 2-for-2 with two doubles.
"It was a good team win on the road in the Big Nine and everybody was able to contribute one way or another," JM coach Thang Nguyen said. "Our base running was exceptional and we were able to take some extra bases and manufacture some runs. That and our ability to make plays in the field was the difference."
JM is 3-1, while Owatonna slips to 1-3.
