Summer update for John Marshall student-athletes:
I hope you are safe and in good health.  We are starting to get questions about summer options for our student-athletes.  We have been working hard with coaches to be ready with multiple options.

Option One - Governor gives approval for participation in June and July with social distancing guidelines.

Option Two - Governor gives approval for participation in July with social distancing guidelines.

    MSHSL Changes -
NO CONTACT PERIOD for coaches - July 3/4/5
Summer coaching wavier period will run from June 1 to August 7

    Hello Everyone,

Now that spring sports have officially been postponed, I will be issuing your refund ASAP.  I am hoping that I will have them all finalized by Tuesday, April 28th.  Once the refund request has been made by me,  you should see the credit on the card/account that you used when you registered in less than a week.

If you have questions/concerns, Please don't hesitate to email me at kigriffin@isd535.org

    Stay safe!

As you are aware, the Minnesota State High School League has cancelled the spring season.  We especially want to thank our senior class for all they have done at each of our high schools.  Over the last four plus years, you have excelled on and off the playing surface and have been a beacon of light in our community.  Your journey will take all of you on many different paths in life, so please continue to be great servant leaders.

    "#BeTheLightMN"

Many school districts across Minnesota and the country are developing creative ways honoring the senior class of 2020. Rochester Public Schools will be joining the “#BeTheLightMN” campaign. Rochester Public Schools is sending well wishes to all of our staff, students and especially our senior class of 2020. To our seniors, you have come so far and accomplished so many great things for our school district and community. We are thinking of all of you during this difficult time so please be safe and stay healthy from afar.

We ask that students, staff and parents do not congregate at the high schools but rather watch from afar while maintaining social distancing guidelines. Each Monday, this light of hope will take place at 8:20 pm (20:20 military time) for 20 minutes

    CORONA VIRUS and ATHLETICS

    John Marshall Rocket Family,

Due to the COVID-19, ALL PARTICIPATION in MSHSL and Rochester Public Schools activities has been suspended until at least May 4, 2020 or the reopening of schools by the Governor of Minnesota.

Coaches and student participation includes but not limited to, competitions, training, practices, scrimmages, contest, open gyms and captains practice.  RPS Staff, Students and RPS coaches and volunteer coaches CANNOT use Rochester Public Schools indoor or outdoor facilities until further notice.  We ask each student-athlete to use all precautionary measures necessary when training as recommended by the Center of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH).  There are to be NO student group practices and workouts are to remain optional.

The spring season still pending for May and June, please continue to watch our website for updates.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please continue to check our website for up-to-date information www.johnmarshallrockets.org.  Parents/guardians and students do not email or call the MSHSL staff with questions or concerns, send your questions to Mr. Brian Ihrke at John Marshall High School at brihrke@isd535.org.

I will tell you, as crazy and chaotic as our office is, I am missing it all but I really miss my athletes and all of their smiles, questions and of course them just stopping in to check in and to say "hi"

I promise you, I will keep you updated as best I can in regards to what is happening with our John Marshall athletic family.  Please don't hesitate to reach out as I am sure there will be many unanswered questions as we move forward.

The one thing I can tell you to be prepared for is, if you think that your son or daughter will need a physical for next fall, please keep in the back of your mind that once we get thru this crisis that you will need to get an appointment and get me that physical (emailed/mailed) as soon as you can.  My plan (and hope) is to open up fall registration as we always have on July 1st, but as you know...  it won't let you if the physical isn't on file or has expired.

I will continue to update this site as I get more info and as we move forward so check back frequently.

MOST IMPORTANTLY.... Please, please please keep your families and our athletes safe.  I can't wait to see them all again in our hallways, in our weight room, on our fields/courts and them just being kids again!!!

You can contact me anytime, my contact info is on this homepage as well.

    STAY SAFE EVERYONE!!!!!
