Athletic Trainer

Sports Medicine Services Announcement - Athletic Trainer Change

Dear John Marshall Athletics Community,

It is with mixed emotions that I write this message to let you know that I have accepted a full-time clinical athletic trainer position at Mayo Sports Medicine. This means that there will be a new face providing your sports medicine needs next fall. This change is bittersweet. I have loved working with all of the athletes, families, and coaches here at JM. I came here in 2012 and felt at home immediately and feel truly blessed to have been able to be a part of this athletic program and community this long. Please know that this change was a hard decision for me and that I will miss working with the athletes in this community very much. I am excited for a new challenge and to have a little bit more of a regular schedule as my children start to be involved with their own activities. I have no doubt that the next athletic trainer that takes this job will enjoy working with you all just as much as I have. I will be finishing out the spring season and my official end date is June 9 with John Marshall High School. Thank you making me a part of your community, it has been truly amazing. I look forward to filling in here and there when needed, and attending games as a spectator. I will always be a Rocket.

Best Regards,

Kaylan Groen, LAT

Baseline Concussion Testing

Baseline Testing for Fall 2021 sports (Football, Boys and Girls Soccer):

Hello JM athlete community! As we look forward to the start of Fall Sports in 2021, we are looking to do testing on June 2nd at John Marshall High School. Please schedule by calling the Athletic Office so that we have appropriate staffing and wait times are not crazy. We will offer another test date, but we would like to have as many people test this spring so we are not overwhelmed in the fall trying to get everyone tested. Feel free to contact me by email with any questions!

How to meet up with JM's Athletic Trainer

Due to COVID-19, please call, text, or email Kaylan to set up a time to be seen. To adhere to social distance and safety precautions, only a limited amount of athletes can be in the training room area. Urgent injuries will be given priority as they come in. You must wear a mask during your entire visit in the athletic training room and while in the high school building. Thank you!
