Rochester Mayo resumed its suspended game with John Marshall on Monday, and turned it into a 6-5 Big Nine Conference softball win at JM. For the Rockets it was a case of too little, too late.

The game had been postponed due to rain last week and was resumed Monday in the bottom of the first inning.

Mayo scored four times in the second for a 6-0 lead before JM rallied with five runs in the bottom of the seventh, leaving them one shy of tying the game.

"Give Mayo all the credit, they played a clean game and took advantage of our mistakes," JM coach Thang Nguyen. "They are a very good team and we need to get better if we want to win games like today. We aren't there right now."

Katelyn Harrington had three hits, with a home run and three RBIs. Harrington's homer drove in three runs, in the second inning.

Sarah Lisko got the complete-game pitching win for Mayo. She allowed nine hits and five earned runs.

Emily Bowron, Abby Gee and Addie Black all doubled for JM in the seventh.

JM is 2-7 in the Big Nine and 6-12 overall. Mayo is 7-2, 13-5.
