After letting a lead slip away, John Marshall scored a run in the top of the seventh to nip Faribault 6-5 in Big Nine Conference softball on Friday.

Faribault scored three unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game at 5-5.

Lexy Anderson started JM's rally in the seventh with a one-out double. Eighth-grader Melanie Sadecki followed with an RBI double off the fence to plate the winning run.

"It was nice to see the girls come through with that seventh-inning rally," JM coach Thang Nguyen said.

Andersen, Abby Gee and Addie Black all had two hits for the Rockets. Gee hit a triple and drove in a run.

Taryn Adams pitched the final two innings for the win. Melanie Boisen pitched the first five innings and allowed two unearned runs.

JM closes the regular season 7-13, 3-8 in the Big Nine while Faribault closes 5-14, 2-9 Big Nine. Both teams begin Section 1AAA play next Wednesday and both teams will have some work to do.

"A little momentum for us going into next week, although we still need to clean up the errors," Nguyen said. "Our pitching and hitting are coming on and will have to carry us."
