Faribault scored three runs in back-to-back innings and went on to beat Rochester John Marshall 8-5 in a Big Nine Conference softball game on Thursday at JM.

The Falcons scored three runs in the fourth inning to snap a scoreless tie, then added three more in the fifth inning and two in the sixth.

JM was hampered by five errors, as Faribault scored five unearned runs. The loss was the third of the week for the Rockets.

"We aren't consistently making the small plays, so that is something we will continue to focus on" said JM's Thang Nguyen.

Becca Herzog and Megan Karp had two hits each for the Rockets, while Melanie Boisen had a double and two RBIs. Boisen suffered the pitching loss, allowing just three earned runs in seven innings, while walking just one batter and striking out four.

JM closes the regular season at 9-11 overall and 5-6 in Big Nine play. Faribault also finished 5-6 in Big Nine play, 13-7 overall.

"I expect we will be seeded at the bottom of the section and will certainly face a challenge going into post season play".
