Patriots fall at state, VFW falls one shy of state

The JM Summer baseball teams came to a close this past weekend.

The Patriots lost to Ham Lake 10-0 who advanced to the championship game and will move on to Regional as the 2nd place team from MN.   The Patriots then defeated Lakeview (Duluth East) 10-8 and eventually fell to Eastview 5-4 in 12 innings.  The Patriots were in the final 10 remaining at the state tournament.  Tricity Red was the Champion and will also advance to regionals.  The Patriots were awarded the Father Moran Sportsmanship Trophy which is named in honor of the first District Director of American Legion Baseball in the Third District and is awarded annually, as selected by committee, to the team displaying exemplary attitude and behavior, both on and off the field, during the
Division I State Tournament.

The VFW Rocket beat Century in the final four playoff opener 5-3, but then fell to both Winona and again to Century in the losers bracket.  The Rockets were in the final 3 teams remaining of 15 in our district.  Both Winona and Century advanced to the VFW State tournament on August 12th.

Congrats to all three JM Summer baseball teams!
