Abby Miles pitched a four-hit shutout and John Marshall was flawless in the field as the Rockets blanked Kasson-Mantorville 6-0 in non-conference softball on Wednesday.

Miles struck out four and walked one.

"Our defense and pitching were the difference against a young and talented Kasson lineup," JM coach Thang Nguyen said. "Abby hit her spots while our infield and outfield made every play."

JM started fast on offense with four runs in the top of the first and two more in the second. Oliva Evans and Kaitlyn Ward both drove in a pair of runs for the Rockets (13-4). Gina Pula had two hits and an RBI while Megan Karp and Evans both doubled.

"We came out aggressive at the plate early, and made those early runs hold up," Nguyen said.

 JM will host Winona in a doubleheader at 4 p.m. Thursday to close out its regular season. Kasson plays at Zumbrota-Mazeppa on Thursday.
