Week 8: (9/29-10/05)

Announcements:

Sections: With the sections rankings and bracket being completed we will be playing in team sections this week. This begins the varsity only part of our season as we battle for a spot in the state tournament. We will have matches on Tuesday and hopefully Thursday this week. This is a single elimination tournament where if the team looses we are out of the sectional tournament. You can find the bracket our tournament below:

Week 8 Schedule

Wednesday: late Practice from 5:00-6:15

Thursday: If we win Tuesday there will likely be an away match here

Week 7: (9/22-9/28)

Announcements:

Early practice time change: It was communicated to us that our early practice of 4:00 was hard to get to with busses and many students leaving JM. Due to this, we are moving back the early practice time 15 minutes from 4:00-5:15 to now being 4:15-5:30

JM Senior Night: On Tuesday we will be having out senior night for our match against century. 

Big 9 Tournament: on Saturday this week we will be having out big 9 tournament. This is a varsity only tournament that will go on this Saturday. This tournament will take place around town. There will be individual brackets for each spot in the normal varsity lineup. Ex: one singles has their own bracket. So does 2,3, and 4 singles.

Week 6: (9/15-9/21)

Announcements:

Picture Day- On wednesday this week there will be team and individual pictures. I will have a form to fill out for the girls to decide what kinds of pictures they want. The picture location is still being ironed out. We want to see if we can get them done at Kutzky park, if not, then they will be done at JM.

Early practice time change: It was communicated to us that our early practice of 4:00 was hard to get to with busses and many students leaving JM. Due to this, we are moving back the early practice time 15 minutes from 4:00-5:15 to now being 4:15-5:30

JM Homecoming Parade: On Friday the team will be participating in the JM Homecoming Parade. Our team and float will be starting at Goose Egg Park and walk to John Marshall HS. Announcements:

Faribault Match- In case you haven't heard, our match against Faribault was rescheduled last minute to Monday this week. Faribault has a very small team of only 15 players. Due to this along with player polling we decided to only bring 15 players to Faribault to prevent some short matches for our JV team. We instead will be having a practice at the early time at 4:15 on Monday for those not going to the Faribault match.

Absence CORRECTION- please be sure to let the school know that your player will be leaving early ONLY IF YOUR PLAYER IS IN MIDDLE SCHOOL. High school does it automatically for sports.

Week 4: (9/1-9/7)

Announcements:

Lake City Match- Our match this week at lake city has been moved to an away match. There is some key information that will be helpful about this match.

• Bussing- a bus will be traveling to both middle schools (Dakota and John Adams) and the high school players before leaving for lake city. There is no need to have to bring your players to John Marshall to get on the bus.
• Absences- please be sure to let the school know that your player will be leaving early to get on the bus. The bus arrival times at each schools are located in the match details below.
• Location- Unfortunately our lake city match this week will only be at one location for both JV and Varsity. This means that our match may take longer then usual. It also means that JV may get reduced match times so we can make it home at a reasonable times.

Scrimmage vs. Lourdes- We will be having a scrimmage this week vs. Lourdes at our home courts this week on Wednesday. We decided to do this as a unique opportunity to get some more matches in this season while not taking up the extra time and formality a match requires.

Week 4 Schedule

Monday: Labor day NO PRACTICE

Tuesday: Match vs Lake City AWAY (changed to away)

• Bussing: 

  • Bus leaving Dakota @ 2:10 pm

  • Bus leaving John Adams Middle School @ 2:25 pm

  • Bus loading @ John Marshall HS @ 2:40. Leaving @ 2:55

• Match Times: (JM vs. Lake City @ 4:30 pm)

• Match Locations: (All matches at Lake City HS)

Wednesday: Scrimmage vs Lourdes

• Scrimmage information: Everyone will play a short reduced match (8 game pro set) at Kutzky park starting at 4:15 pm.

Thursday: Match vs Winona HOME

• Match Times: Both matches will begin at 4:45 but please arrive at 4:15

• Match Locations: (Varsity @ Kutzky Park) (JV @ Century HS)

Friday: late Practice from 5:00-6:15

Week 3: (8/25-8/31)

Announcements:

-Match Sharing Faribault: Our upcoming match against Faribault on Thursday. August 29th will be one of our unfortunately unique match experiences this season. We will have this match at home at Kutzky Park with a second location of Soldiers Field. 

Unfortunately, Lourdes also has a match on the same date at Kutzky park as well. Because of this double scheduling we will have to share the Kutzky park courts with Lourdes.

Given the smaller team sizes of Faribault, Lourdes, and Lourdes opponents we decided it was possible to complete our JM match and the Lourdes match simultaneously at Kutzky, with Soldiers field as a second location for our match.

More information about who will go to each location (Kutzky Park or Soldiers Field) is found below. Specific players who will be going to each location will also be communicated later in the week when a lineup is finalized.

Week 3 Schedule

Monday: Early Practice from 4:00-5:30 

Tuesday: Match vs Northfield HOME

• Match Times: Both matches will begin at 4:45 but please arrive at 4:15

• Match Locations: (Varsity Matches at Kutzky Park)(JV Matches at Century HS)

Wednesday: Late Practice from 5:00-6:15

Thursday: Match vs Faribault HOME

• Match Times: Both matches will begin at 4:45 but please arrive at 4:15

• Match Locations: ((1-4 singles + 2 JV matches at Soldiers Field) 1-3 doubles + the rest of JV at Kutzky park) *As we get closer to the match with a completed lineup specific locations of players will be communicated*

  • I apologize that these locations are strange. We do have to be flexible given the fact we have to share a home match location with Lourdes for this match.

Friday: optional late Practice from 5:00-6:15

Week 2 UPDATE

In case you haven't heard, we have an update for our match against Austin and Mayo on Friday this week.

Due to the location in Austin having too few courts for both JV and Varsity to play we will only be sending our varsity players to Austin for tomorrow's triangular.

For JV they will still get a match tomorrow. Instead of traveling to Austin they will be playing Mayo in Rochester at Mayo HS. This match will be scheduled for 3:30. 

*Note there will not be bussing to this location given it is in town*

I apologize for the late notice on this change. With the update of the limited court space in Austin we had to quickly adjust so we can get all our players a match.

Week 2: (8/18-8/24)

Announcements:

-Goal Sheets: Please turn in your goal sheets this week so the coaches can give your player the best season possible

-Merch Order Forms: Please turn in your merch order form as soon as possible so we can order the merch and have it for our matches later in the season. (We will be providing a shirt for all the girls on the team and will get sizes from everyone on Monday's practice!)

-Matches: We will have 2 triangular matches this week. Be ready for some awesome tennis!

-Match Food Reminder: a quick reminder about Rochester public school's new policy about buses stopping for food. We are no longer allowed to do this after matches because of the increased cost of bussing. Please make sure your players have food if they need it!

Week 1: (8/11-8/17)

Hello Girls Tennis Families,

The first week of the season is fast approaching next week! Due to this I have some quick announcements before the season as well as a weekly schedule for families.

Announcements:

-Parent meeting: there will be a parent meeting immediately after practice our first day on Monday, August 12th. This 15 min meeting will contain all the information you need about this upcoming season. If you cannot make this meeting, meeting minutes will be posted on the website later that evening.

-The first week is a week to evaluate the current level of play of our players and temporarily give them a ranked spot on our team. These can always change as our tennis abilities change and grow throughout the season. I do want to clarify that this is not a tryout but just an evaluation of abilities where everyone makes the team!

-A quick reminder to those who have not purchased a uniform yet, the amazon link to purchase uniforms are linked below on the website!

Pre-Season Information

Hello JM Girls Tennis Families,

A couple of pre-season updates for you!

Registration

The season is right around the corner which means it is registration time soon. Registration is only one week and will open on July 30th and close on August 6th. A quick reminder to ensure you have an updated physical with the athletic department at John Marshall High School. 

Schedule

Our schedule for this upcoming season is finally ready to go! A full match schedule can be found on the top of our website with times and locations. Note, locations for JV matches will be confirmed closer to their dates. 

A practice schedule for our temporary location at Kutzky Park has also been finalized. We will have practices when no match has been scheduled (M-F). A quick reminder that we are sharing courts with Lourdes High School. This means that to share the courts we will have early practice times and later practice times throughout the week. The coach from Lourdes and I created this schedule to give both teams the fairest access to an early practice time. The Schedule is as follows:

The season starts Monday, August 12th

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: Early Practice 4-5:30 (5:15 when school starts)

Wednesday, Friday: Late Practice 5-6:15

Hello JM Girls Tennis Families,

I wanted to provide a quick update on the status of the courts for the summer and the upcoming season. The resurfacing of the JM courts is set to begin any day now. With the resurfacing of the courts they unfortunately will be out of commission for not only the summer, but for the entire season as well. We will have Kutzky park to play at this season as a replacement location for our matches. However, given these are still the home courts for Lourdes we may have to be flexible with our location at some points in our season. 

For Captains practices we are looking for an alternate location for the summer. This will be one of the other high school locations (Century or Mayo). We are currently working with the athletic directors there to get courts fully reserved at one of those two locations.
