JM Summer Camp Info

Hello Rockets,

It is again time to start getting our work in this summer. We have put this together with our Strength and Conditioning Coach Brad and feel this gives us a great start. To compete at our best, we need to get stronger. We need to compete not just in games but in practice as well.  Our entire focus in the weight room is lifting. Not just lifting a bar but lifting a bar with weights on it.  We will be doing conditioning drills during our camp. Along with what we do in the weight room and camp, there is also a conditioning and core workout on the website, and I have attached that here as well. Everyone will also receive a T-Shirt when they arrive at Camp.

The dates and the times for the camps are as follows.

7th-9th Graders – 6:30pm to 8:30pm – Tuesdays and Thursday Nights.

June – 15th, 17th, 22nd, 24th – June 29th There will be no camp due to Basketball League in the Gym.

July – 1st, 13th, 15th, 20th, 22nd, and 29th – July 27th No Camp due to Basketball League in the Gym. 

Weightlifting will be Monday through Friday 9:30am-10:30am

 

10th – 12th Graders – 6:30pm to 8:30pm – Mondays and Wednesday Nights

June – 14th, 16th, 21st, 23rd, 28th and 30th

July – 12th, 14th, 19th, 21st, 26th, and 28th  

Weightlifting will be Monday through Friday 9:30am-10:30am

 

This year there will be a cost for camp and the weightlifting program. It breaks down like this:

Cost of just Volleyball Camp - $45.00

Cost of Volleyball Camp and Reduced-Price Weightlifting - $105.00 – This is if you are on the reduced Lunch program - $45.00 Camp + $60.00 Weightlifting.

Cost of Volleyball Camp and Weightlifting Program - $170.00.  $45.00 Camp + $125.00 Weightlifting

So, you will be writing out two separate checks if you are doing both:

Checks for just the Volleyball Camp will be made out to JM Volleyball

Checks for Weightlifting will be made out to Brad Heider.

We are proud to announce the return of Jess Stellmaker. It will be nice to have her back along with Mike as they will Co-Coach both Varsity and JV. Aubrey of course is expecting her baby girl "WHO WE CAN"T WAIT TO SEE", and she will be helping with Home games this season when she can. We have Jen coming back and Andria and we are looking forward to seeing everyone again. We are excited about the summer and what the season has to offer. As far as our season goes, right now, we have the following matches scheduled and there are 2- more Non-conference games yet to be scheduled, and some tournaments as well.

We are seeing changes everywhere as we have moved from Section 1AAA into the new Section 1AAAA. This section is the same as Basketball, and it is represented with these teams.

Farmington, Lakeville North and South, Northfield, Owatonna, Century, John Marshall, and Mayo in the Section. Our Conference teams have not changed.  

Any questions, as always feel free to send me an email and I will get you the answers ASAP. It will be nice to have our Rockets back in the gym.


JM Off Season Workout Information

Let the 2021-22 Season begin. Coach Heider has room for off-season performance training for Volleyball.  This is a free program for the remainder of the school year, but space is limited.

We have been moved from Section 1AAA to Section 1AAAA. This new section placement will mirror Basketball. Teams in our Section will be:

Each circuit should be done two times per week. Circuits do not need to be done on the same day. Do not stop to rest between exercises unless written.

Leg Circuit – 2x through

10 Jump Squats with a turn

Jump and turn 90 degrees to your right, landing in a low position. Then to the left.

20 Glute Bridges

Lay on back, knees bent, feet flexed. Raise your hips, lower slowly to the ground.

Try this with a volleyball squeezed between your knees for added difficulty.

20 Walking Lunges

Legs Alternating, Lower knee as far as possible each time

1 Minute Break

20 Bulgarian Split Squats

10 on each leg. Prop up your back foot, bend knee low to the ground.

10 Block Jumps

Arms swing from hips, extend fully overhead, pressing forward.

20 Pistol Squats

10 on each leg. Chair or box behind you, stand on one leg with the other in front of you. Lower yourself slowly to a sitting position, rise slowly to standing.

1 Minute Break

Jump Rope Circuit – 2x through

30 sec. Single hop Jump Rope at full speed

30 sec. Rest

30 sec. Single hop Jump Rope on right foot

30 sec. Rest

30 sec. Single hop Jump Rope on left foot

30 sec. Rest

30 sec. Single hop Jump Rope at relaxed speed

30 sec. Rest

Core Circuit – 2x through

1 Minute Plank

15 single leg pelvic bridges (15 right, 15 left)

30 Mountain Climbers

1 Minute Break

30 Bicycles, with arms overhead

30 Russian twists, with feet crossed and lifted

30 Dead bugs

1 Minute Break
